Cornerstone Speech & Language offers a comprehensive Parkinson’s voice therapy program in Wall Township, NJ. Our speech pathologists are certified in LSVT LOUD and SPEAK OUT, two of the most effective evidence-based treatments for Parkinson’s speech and voice disorders.
Unlike traditional programs, we combine individual therapy, small group sessions, classical singing training, breathing exercises and community performance opportunities to maximize vocal strength, clarity and confidence.
We also founded and maintain the Shore Parkinson’s Community, a free weekly group supporting individuals with Parkinson’s with exercises, socialization and guest speakers throughout Monmouth and Ocean County. Meetings are held at the Wall Municipal Buildings on Thursdays from 11:30-1:00.
The Director of Cornerstone Speech is on the Parkinson’s Foundation Board of Directors.
Specialized Myofunctional Therapy for Tongue Thrust
When the tongue rests too far forward, it can alter speech, swallowing and leave a gap between upper and lower teeth. We work with local orthodontists to “close the gap” in an open bite by teaching how to rest the tongue on the hard palate behind the teeth. This corrects a lisp, a forward swallow and, best of all, the teeth can meet when the tongue is no longer in the way! A tongue thrust can usually be corrected in 12-16 weeks and is often covered by medical insurance.
